Sally Holmes has been named editor in chief and general manager of InStyle, effective May 1.
Holmes is joining from Marie Claire where she has served as editor in chief since 2020. She joined Marie Claire as digital director in 2018.
She will oversee the editorial vision of the brand, content creation across channels and the InStyle strategy overall, while reporting to Leah Wyar, president of Entertainment and Beauty & Style at Dotdash Meredith.
Holmes started her career at New York magazine as an editor for their website, then moved to The Cut ahead of its relaunch in 2012. She joined Hearst Magazines in 2014 as the senior news editor at ELLE.com and became deputy editor in 2016 and executive editor in 2017.
Wyar predicts Holmes will bring “renewed energy and a fresh approach” to the brand.
Holmes is respected in the fashion world and has “a proven track record of success growing digital media brands and creating award-winning editorial content in areas of style, beauty and culture,” Wyar notes.
