Google is offering to smooth the subscription process for publishers and readers.
The platform’s Reader Revenue manager is being offered in what What’s New in Publishing calls “a soft launch.”
The Google Reader Revenue Manager page says, “Monetize your content by choosing a revenue model that fits your needs. Remove payment friction and seamlessly convert readers with our fast and secure checkout with no surprise fees.”
In addition, it says, “Own your reader relationship with direct access to your reader’s opted-in contact information. Your data is private and secure and will never be processed by Google.
Google also urges publishers to eliminate paywall frustrations for their subscribers.
“No more forgotten passwords or user names,” it says. “Your readers will be automatically signed-in with their Google account.”
Google contends, “We’re committed to supporting publishers of all sizes.”
“Whether you already have a paywall or are just starting your readers revenue business, we have a solution to help you grow your publication.”
