
Yahoo has promoted Lauren Johnston to the title
of executive editor of Yahoo News, U.S.
In that role, Johnson will lead journalists across news, entertainment and lifestyle, while implementing a strategy for expanding
original content into new audience segments.
Johnston has been with Yahoo for nine years. Most recently, she served as head of programming, in which role she led
editorial planning, content curation and distribution.
Yahoo credits Johnson with building a team to cover high-impact stories and implementing a 24/7 breaking news desk across U.S. and
international teams.
Johnson has been “instrumental, working across editorial, engineering and product to develop explanatory work, connecting news consumers with
formats that fit their lives,” says Kat Downs Mulder, SVP & General Manager, Yahoo News.
