Shirley Halperin Named EIC Of Los Angeles Magazine

Shirley Halperin has been named editor in chief of Los Angeles magazine, effective June 15, parent Engine Vision Media has announced.

Halperin, who is departing her post as executive editor of music at Variety, replaces Maer Roshan who left a month ago as Eugine Vision Media made a shift in direction under new president and publisher Christopher Gialanella, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new editor will focus on shaping the magazine's vision for the future, emphasizing news and culture in Los Angeles, while celebrating the city’s diversity, the company says.

In addition to Variety, which she joined in 2017, Halperin has served at The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard and Entertainment Weekly.

Halpirin’s experience in “music, lifestyle, entertainment and overall knowledge of Los Angeles is impeccable,” Gialanella says.

“It is a privilege to continue the rich editorial leadership of Los Angeles, a legacy title which has always found the perfect words to describe the beauty and whimsy of this blended metropolis we call home," Halperin says.
