Yahoo has named Coleen O’Lear as senior director of curation & platforms for Yahoo News, U.S., effective Aug. 14.
O’Lear will oversee the curation and distribution strategy for Yahoo News and all of its products and platforms.
She will be in charge of several editorial teams, including homepage & apps, alerts, audience development, newsletters, optimization and the copy desk.
Previously, O’Lear was head of curation and platforms at The Washington Post. She led mobile strategy and had been a homepage editor on the Universal News Desk.
O’Lear has also served as assistant copy desk chief at two McClatchy newspapers: The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette.
