Tech site Gizmodo has laid off the entire small
staff of its Spanish-language site Gizmodo en Espanol and has reverted to AI-automated translation, according to published reports.
"Hello friends. On Tuesday
they shut down @GizmodoES to turn it into a translation self-publisher (an AI took my job, literally)," wrote writer Matías S. Zavia in a social media post, according to
ArsTechnica.
Translated articles now contain this disclaimer: "This content has been automatically translated from the source material. Due to the
nuances of machine translation, there may be slight differences. For the original version, click here."
The disclaimer may be needed, given that some AI-translated articles
start in Spanish and abruptly shift to English, The Verge reports.
