Arbitron Inc. announced today that it has reached the halfway point in its plan to recruit 1,500 consumers to participate in the final phase of the U.S. market trial of its new radio, television and
cable TV audience measurement device - the Portable People Meter (PPM). As of January 31, 750 individuals in the Philadelphia TV marketplace have been outfitted with the new passive audience
measurement device which automatically reports their exposure to the 68 radio, television and cable outlets that are currently encoding their audio signals for the U.S. market trial. The company
intends to recruit the entire planned panel of 1,500 consumers, age six and older, by the end of March, 2002.
