Desperation Play: ABC Uses 'Housewives' To Launch 'Brian'

  • February 2, 2006
ABC will use smash "Desperate Housewives" to help launch drama "What About Brian," a strategy that propelled "Grey's Anatomy" into a hit. "Brian" will follow a new "Housewives" on April 2 at 10 p.m. (ET), before moving to its regular 10 p.m. Monday slot the next night. Last year, ABC launched "Grey's Anatomy" behind "Housewives" and the show has been a strong performer ever since. Also, first-year drama "Invasion" will go on hiatus in late March, giving its time slot after smash hit "Lost" to new drama "The Evidence." "Invasion" will be back in April. Reality series "Miracle Workers" and "American Inventor" will debut March 6 and March 16, respectively. -- David Goetzl
