Time magazine is planning a pop-up newsletter called The Olympics Brief, on the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Written onsite by Time senior correspondents Sean Gregory and Alice Park, it will appear several times a week during the games, starting the week of July 14.
The issues will feature interviews with athletes, analysis of key events, and behind-the-scenes insights.
The launch will coincide with publication of Time's Olympics issue featuring a cover story on Noah Lyles and the speed and showmanship he is bringing to the Olympics.
Last summer, Time published a pop-up newsletter called Extra Time during the 2023 Women's World Cup. It pulled a 65.6% open rate, 5.3% clickthrough rate, and 75.1% average dwell time. The team hopes the Olympic Brief will capitalize on this success.
This is consistent with the overall success of Time's newsletters, which have seen a 33% increase in clickthrough YoY. Time's health newsletter has enjoyed a 48% YoY jump in unique visitors.
The Paris games will be held from July 26 to August 11.
