Universal Hires New Recruits To Work On Army Business

  • February 14, 2006
Universal McCann is beefing up its New York office with two new hires who will work on the agency's new U.S. Army account team. The first hire, Cheryl Jean Claude, was named senior vice president, managing director. She will initially oversee media planning on the Army account, and will eventually expand her role to other existing clients. Jean Claude most recently worked as group director at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners' Media Kitchen.

Universal also named Gary Barsky senior vice president, group media director. He will be responsible for managing the Army account's planning activities, and will report to Jean Claude. He previously served 18 years at Lowe Worldwide, most recently as group media director.

In December, Universal was named to handle media buying for the Army's five-year, $1.35 billion account as part of a full-service win by the McCann WorldGroup.
