Two British publications, the Sun and the Mail have reduced their editorial teams in the U.S.
The Sun, owned by News Corp., is seeking to “reset the strategy and resize the team to secure the long-term, sustainable future for The Sun’s business in the US,” according to the UK’s Press Gazette, which reported the news.
The paper has suffered a 30% reduction in monthly unique users, down to 112 million in June. In addition, it has experienced a drop in digital advertising that it attributes to outside platform changes.
There was no word on the number of employees affected in this elimination of “redundancies.”
Meanwhile, layoffs have affected up to 10% of the 200+ Mail Online employees in the U.S. A spokesperson said, "We have made a small number of job cuts in some areas of our US editorial department,” according to Press Gazette.
