'The Washington Post' Names Gregg Fernandes As Chief Of Print Operations

The Washington Post has promoted Gregg Fernandes to the title of chief of print operations.

Fernandes is a 37-year Post veteran who has headed the paper’s print circulation, production and security teams for 15 years.

“As we aim to deliver more for our customers, print will be an important part of our strategy,” writes Will Lewis, publisher and CEO. “Aligning with our strategic priorities and Build It plan, Gregg’s mandate will expand his previous role as Vice President, Customer Care & Logistics to look across all areas of the company that focus on print.”

In addition, the Post has seen progress in embracing AI. “Over the past few months we have been rolling out and testing new products, further developing our AI capabilities,” Lewis continues. “Last week, a subset of our website visitors began receiving an A/B test on our search feature to test The Post’s “AI Answers” (user facing name TBD) product. As with Climate Answers, this tool is designed to provide audiences an AI-generated response to their questions, summarized from Washington Post journalism.”
