'Tampa Bay Times' Continues Publishing Despite Crane Collapse During Hurricane

The Tampa Bay Times has continued to publish despite the fact that its newsroom has been cut off because of a crane collapse caused by Hurricane Milton.

Most journalists covering the storm were working remotely or at a hub in Wesley Chapel, and suffered no injuries, AP reports.

The building, which is located in St. Petersburg, is the headquarters of the Times Publishing company, publisher of the Tampa Bay Times, that paper reports. It has served as the home of local newspapers for over a century,

Times Publishing does not own the building.

The crane collapsed from a condominium construction site across the street. It crashed into the upper floors of the eight-story building.

Florida Governor Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized the developer, saying that it should have taken down the equipment prior to the storm’s arrival, the Tampa Bay Times continues.

The building was empty at the time of the collapse.
