Brandon Tan Hired To Direct Fashion Content For 'Cosmopolitan' And 'Seventeen'

Willa Bennett has made her first big move since joining Hearst as editor in chief of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen in September. She has named Brandon Tan, recently the fashion editor of GQ, as fashion director of the two brands, effective November 11.

Tan will oversee all fashion content for the print and digital editions of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen.

In addition to serving full-time at publications, Tan has been an independent stylist for such clients as i-D, W Magazine, Vogue Italia, Nike and The North Face.

At GQ, Tan was tasked with styling across front-of-book features, fashion stories and cover shoots in the U.S., but also for British GQ, GQ Taiwan, GQ Italia and GQ Australia.

“Brandon’s creativity, innate understanding of personal style, and ability to identify emerging talent aligns perfectly with my editorial vision for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen,” says Bennett, to whom Tan will report.  “I can’t wait for him to join the team as we usher in a new era for these two brands.”

“To be developing the style direction for two media brands that reach such a massive youth audience is an incredible opportunity,” says Tan.
