As the pizza turns… yet another major QSR brought on a new C-suite executive this week.
Today Papa Johns announced it has appointed Jenna Bromberg to the position of CMO, effective beginning Nov. 14. She reports to Papa Johns’ President and CEO Todd Penegor.
Bromberg joins the company from kids’ clothing brand Carter’s, Inc., where she held the title of vice president of brand marketing and creative. Prior to Carter’s, she spent almost six years at Pizza Hut, rising to the position of director of core brand marketing. While at the pizza chain she led the Pizza Hut domestic brand strategy, forged partnerships with brands such as Cinnabon and Cheez-It, and oversaw creative strategy and brief development for multiple ad campaigns.
“Jenna’s track record of building strong brands and driving innovative marketing campaigns makes her the ideal leader to help take the Papa John’s brand into its next chapter,” said Penegor in a release. “Her proven ability to connect with modern consumers combined with her deep understanding of the restaurant industry, particularly her experience in the pizza segment, will be invaluable as we continue to expand our market presence.”

Bromberg will focus on Papa Johns’ “marketing strategy, brand development, digital customer experience and creative initiatives, including elevating the brand among current and new audiences through data-driven campaigns, and overseeing the product innovation pipeline to provide consumers with new products and menu offerings,” per the brand.
“The pizza industry has always been close to my heart, and I'm energized by the opportunity to combine my consumer retail experience with my restaurant industry background to create compelling, innovative marketing strategies that will connect with our customers as well as bring new consumers to the brand,” said Bromberg in the announcement.
Bromberg replaces Mark Shambura, who was hired by Papa Johns 18 months ago but departed to assume the CMO role at Panera in August of this year.
