News publisher Lee Enterprises has chosen Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider in an effort to advance its digital transformation.
The arrangement is designed to “deliver personalized content and innovative solutions that empower subscribers to live more connected lives within their communities, while offering advertisers unparalleled opportunities to reach local audiences effectively,” says Kevin Mowbray, chief executive officer at Lee Enterprises.
Lee hopes to modernize its cloud infrastructure to achieve greater scalability and speed, while developing GenAI applications.
Amazon Bedrock will support Lee’s GenAI initiatives. Amazon Redshift integrates with Bedrock to facilitate data analytics.
“Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Redshift are essential to our GenAI platform strategy, allowing us to unlock the power of data and large language models to deliver dynamic, personalized content experiences at scale,” says Les Ottolenghi, chief transformation and commercial officer at Lee Enterprises.

Lee will use these capabilities to deliver hyper-local, hyper-personalized news and information services that serve consumers and advertisers, it claims.
“Working with AWS allows us to reimagine the future of local news and advertising,” Mowbray says. “AWS’s proven leadership in cloud infrastructure and generative AI, including Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Nova foundation models, gives us the tools to transform our business at scale.”
