Time has appointed two executive editors, Nikhil Kumar and Lori Fradkin, the company announced on Thursday.
Kumar will lead Time’s AI, climate and health teams,
starting January 6. He is returning to Time after stints as deputy global editor at The Messenger and Grid and as CNN bureau chief in New Delhi. He previously was
Time’s South Asia bureau chief and prior to that, a Time senior editor working on international coverage.
Kumar will supervise senior
editors Mandy Oaklander, Kyla Mandel, and Dayana Sarkisova, along with their reporters. He brings “experience in international and business journalism, which he’ll use to make sure that
our AI, Climate, and Health coverage continues to appeal to global audiences and those leading the businesses that shape them,” writes Sam Jacobs, editor in chief of
Time.

Fradkin, who has been with Time since 2018, will oversee a team that includes AJ Hess, senior editor of ideas, Belinda Luscombe, editor at
large, Sean Gregory, senior correspondent and Eliana Dockterman, senior correspondent.
“In this expanded role, Lori will continue to edit many of our most
experienced reporters as well as work with outside writers on ambitious stories and essays, producing cover stories and features that drive conversation and support our top initiatives,” Jacobs
says.
Jacobs adds that Fradkin oversaw the launch of the lists Closers and Latino Leaders, and “will also continue to run and contribute to tentpole projects like
Person of the Year. Lori will also be a key connector between the Editorial, Legal, and People Departments.”
