'HuffPost' Unveils Member Program With Three Levels

HuffPost has launched a three-tiered membership program in an effort to raise funds and provide readers with “a way to support our free, award-winning journalism at a time when the free press is under attack, while gaining a more elevated reading experience and membership perks,” says Kate Palmer, executive editor of the online news site.

The program grew out of a successful effort to garner voluntary contributions in 2023.

  • The three tiers include:
  • Silver HuffPoster costs $5 per month and will deliver monthly supporter-only emails and fewer requests for financial support.
  • Gold HuffPoster lists for $10 a month. While providing all Silver tier benefits, it offers ad-free access on the HuffPost website and on HuffPost apps.
  • Platinum HuffPoster is priced at $20 a month. This tier includes ad-free access on the HuffPost website and HuffPost apps, early access to new features, and membership to a Platinum Club focus group. Those who sign up for an annual membership will receive a free tote bag.

HuffPost has been in the news recently due to a staff reduction affecting over 30 newsroom employees, some of whom are being offered voluntary buyouts, and the subsequent resignation of Danielle Belton, editor in chief.

HuffPost says it reaches 60 million monthly readers.
