This week Chipotle announced its plans for after the Super Bowl, the Monday when football fans whose team won are hungover from celebrating, and those whose team lost are often also hungover from drowning their sorrows. Yet both sides wish they had just one more day to recover.
In fact, according to the chain, more than 40% of employed Americans think “the Monday after the men's professional American football championship should be a national holiday in the U.S.” And many of those aren’t going to work, holiday or not; “in 2024 an estimated 16.1 million U.S. employees planned to miss work the day following football's championship game.”
Chipotle heard football fans loud and clear, and subsequently announced Mon. Feb. 10 will now be known as “Extra Sunday” (at least at Chipotle), when “extras aren't extra at Chipotle.” That translates to offering Chipotle Rewards members free guac and queso blanco with the purchase of any entrée on that day.

"Football's most watched game is the perfect stage for over-the-top moments, and we're here to make it even more extra with free Chipotle," said Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s chief brand officer in the announcement.
The “Extra Sunday” deal is only available on the Chipotle app and at Chipotle.com with promo code "EXTRA25."
The brand is also holding a special activation for fans watching at home, which will reward up to 50,000 free entrees if something “extra” happens during the game. For example: “The team on offense converts on a fourth down play, the team on offense successfully kicks an extra point ,[or]the team on offense scores a two point conversion." In that case, Chipotle will post a discount code on X @ChipotleTweets. The first fans to send the text-to-claim code to 888-222 will receive a free entrée code back from Chipotle.
