Hearst Connecticut Media Group Takes Over 'The Waterbury Republican-American'

Hearst Connecticut Media Group has acquired The Waterbury Republican-American, a daily newspaper owned by the Pape family since 1901. Also included in the deal is Citizens News.

The terms were not disclosed. 

Republican-American subscribers will gain “full access to CTInsider.com/Rep-Am and all of Hearst Connecticut Media Group’s news sites across the state, giving you even greater access to the news that matters to you,” writes Mike DeLuca, publisher and president of Hearst Connecticut Media Group. 

DeLuca added that “we understand and appreciate the Republican-American’s longstanding tradition of providing a strong conservative voice and commentary in Connecticut across its opinion pages.”

The Hearst Connecticut Media Group publishes eight daily newspapers in the state, covering Fairfield, New Haven, Litchfield and Middlesex counties. It also offers 15 weekly publications and numerous websites.
