The Times-Virginian, a
Virginia weekly that has been published since 1892, was shuttered earlier this month.
The paper announced the closure in a notice on its website:.
“It is with
sadness that Womack Publishing announces the last publication of the Times-Virginian on February 5, 2025.
“Unfortunately, it is no longer financially feasible to continue
publishing the Times-Virginian at the current level of support.
“Adverse market conditions post Covid are contributing factors to this decision.
“Womack Publishing
will continue operations in it’s other 11 markets in Virginia and North Carolina.”
The paper covered Appomattox and Campbell counties, according to Cardinal
News.
