National Trust To Close Two Colorado Papers

Two Colorado titles, Life on Capitol Hill and the Washington Park Profile, will be shuttered in March as print products, although they apparently will continue to publish online.

The nonprofit group that runs them, Colorado Community Media, faced “market challenges and changes in readership,” said Eric Heinz, an editor for Colorado Community Media, in a Feb. 12 email to writers, according to Inside News in Colorado

Colorado Community Media is not profitable without support from the National Trust, says Amalie Nash, head of transformation for the Trust.

“If there’s a strong case to be made for a digital future and not having a print product that’s losing money -- if that’s the case, then I think we need to look at those avenues,” Nash adds, Inside News in Colorado reports.
