Journalists Natalie Kitroeff and Rachel Abrams will be joining Michael Barbaro as co-hosts of “The Daily,” the daily podcast, The New York Times has announced.
Kitroeff has spent the past five years as an international correspondent and Mexico City bureau chief for the Times, reporting on the drug cartels and the official corruption they engendered. Abrams was part of the 2018 team that won a Pulitzer Prize for exposing sexual harassment and misconduct.
The Times has determined that having multiple hosts allows for greater experimentation and innovation.
“The Daily became even more vibrant when Sabrina Tavernise joined Michael as co-host in 2022,” says Joe Kahn, executive editor of the Times. “Now that Sabrina has decided to go back to reporting, we’re confident that Natalie and Rachel will each bring deep and varied experiences that will add new dimensions to the show.
Kahn adds, “Having Natalie and Rachel join Michael as hosts will strengthen the team that makes the show so compelling to listeners.”
Abrams starts immediately. Kitroeff joins after transitioning out of her role as bureau chief in June.
