Snack marketer Frito-Lay's Doritos tortilla chips is joining forces with travel services Internet site Orbitz.com in a new online promotion that kicks off next week with radio ads designed to steer
listeners to the Doritos Web site. Dubbed "Destination Doritos," the effort offers participants weekend getaways for four with airfare (via Orbitz.com) and hotel to a destination of their choice. Two
prize packages will be given away daily through Apr. 21 along with a slew of vacation accessories. "The Doritos consumer is all about living life for the moment and Destination Doritos will give them
a fun, high-adventure way to seize the day," said Jeff Swearingen, vice president-shopper marketing for Frito-Lay. One radio spot says, "A little advice for anyone who's ever let a rainy day get them
down: Next time, break open a bag of Doritos tortilla chips. The earth-shattering crunch will unlock the mind-blowing flavor and WHAM!: You're mentally kayaking down a Cool Ranch river. Or maybe
spelunking deep inside a giant block of Nacho cheese. Of course, you could just break out some board games. It's your call. But don't say we didn't try to help."
