Condé Nast is continuing to pursue diversity, equity and inclusion despite growing political disdain for the idea.
The company appears to be especially friendly to
women.
Of all Condé Nast employees, 65% are female and 35% male. Drilling down to the editorial area, 61% are female and 38% male. Another 1% are undeclared. In
addition, 75% of editors in chief are female and 25% male.
When it comes to race/ethnicity, 31% of staffers are people of color, 60% white and 9% undeclared.
Among editors
in chief, 50% are people of color, including Asian (25%), Black/African American (17%) and multiracial (8%); the remaining 50% are white. Senior leadership is 76% white.
“I joined
the organization in January 2025, during a time when opposition to diversity efforts in the U.S. was intensifying,” writes Cheryl Kaba, chief diversity and inclusion officer, in an introduction.
“It was clear that at Condé Nast, Diversity and Inclusion is not just a priority — it is integral to our mission, our core values, our business principles, and the way we support
our colleagues and communities.”
The statistics cover the period of January 1-December 31, 2024. The numbers excludes freelancers. Senior leadership includes the top three job levels in
the company. This was the seventh annual report.
