The Hoffman Media Group has acquired the Missourian Media Group, the Washington, Missouri-based publisher of The Missourian.
The terms were not disclosed.
Included in the sale are the paper’s real estate holdings, printing operations, and digital platform, eMissourian.com.
Founded in 1860 and taken over by the Miller family in 1937, The Missourian is published bi-weekly in print and updated online daily.
“My wife, Jerri, and I take great pride in our Missouri roots and share a deep passion for preserving local journalism,” says David Hoffmann, chairman of Hoffmann Family of Companies. “This acquisition is a natural fit, and we are honored to uphold the Miller family’s rich legacy as we integrate The Missourian into Hoffmann Media Group.”

Hoffman Media Group owns papers such as Mackinac Island Town Crier, St. Helena Star and the Napa Valley Register, a publication that it acquired from Lee Enterprises last year.
Earlier this year, Hoffman expressed interest in acquiring Lee Enterprises, and now owns 9.8% of Lee’s stock. However, Lee reacted to the possible takeover bid by extending its shareholder rights plan for one year, to March 27, 2026, potentially halting any such deal.
David Hoffman is the founder of the executive search firm DHR Global, and owns such enterprises as Mitch’s Cookies, Oberweis Dairy and the Florida Everblades hockey team.
