'Forbes' Salutes: Magazine Launches Year-Long Effort To Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary

Forbes is leaning into next year’s anniversary of the nation’s founding with a year-long campaign devoted to the American way.

The initiative, titled “Forbes 250: A Celebration of the American Dream,” commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the foundational document largely written by Thomas Jefferson.

The campaign will “recognize our nation of problem-solvers, mavericks and risk-takers, and celebrate the history of the United States as a place where hustle and reinvention and meritocracy rule,” says Randall Lane, chief content officer and editor, Forbes.

The effort will  be wrapped into six dedicated magazine issues. In addition,  there will be live events and Forbes will host the American Dream Film Festival in partnership with Harbor Fund.

Forbes is also partnering with the Museum of the American Revolution, and will soon announce other key partnerships.

Pew Research reports that Forbes is the news outlet that best symbolizes the ideologies of the American, the magazine claims.

“Millions of Americans read Forbes for stories about innovation, success and the relentless pursuit of the American Dream,” said Rosie Rios, chair of America250. “They will be a critical partner for storytelling that reflects America250’s mission.”

The series will be divided into parts, each one focusing on different values or ideals of the American dream. These include:

  • Equal Opportunity: Ensuring a level playing field with a specific focus on education.
  • Upward Mobility: Keeping the economy thriving for small business, and guarding against monopolies and trusts.
  • Pluralism: As a a brand built by immigrants, Forbes explores how  do we create a system that attracts and melds the best-and-brightest in the world.
  • Invention: America must embody the spirit of the Thomas Edison and continue to fuel homegrown innovations and technologies that move the world forward.
  • Reinvention: Strengthening America as a land of second acts.

These tenets will be woven into Forbes’ print, video, social and website editorial content.

The issues will be worth studying and could drive interest in American history.

Forbes has always stood for the American Dream, symbolizing success and spotlighting the doers and their doings,” Lane says.
