'The Eureka Sentinel' Returns To Print

The Eureka Sentinel, which eliminated its print edition in early 2024, is back in print. The first issue was July 4.

The Nevada publication will release a print edition every first Friday of the month “and then we’ll see what happens from there,” writes Ben Rowley, owner of publisher Nevada Central Media. “We will continue to publish a weekly online edition every Friday.”

The print cutoff followed purchase of the title by Nevada Central Media from Battle Born Media in January 2024.

“We chose not to continue the print edition, which was a difficult decision and no doubt disappointing to many. However, we continued a weekly online edition, including a print replica, maintaining our claim of continuing to serve the community since 1870,” Rowley continues.

Had the acquisition not occurred, “the newspaper would have ceased operations,” Rowley adds.

But now there are several more improvements in the offing.

“A new hire will allow us to consistently cover local high school sports and wade deeper into issues most important to the area,” Rowley notes. “We are always looking for more local reporters and photographers to expand our capabilities, and we would welcome a few student-writers to round out our local team.”

The team also now includes an office manager, graphic designer, publisher’s assistant and copyeditor, all remote.
