Confessions from Beardbrand's Founder: Word of Mouth, Gut Checks, and the Death of Blogs

Eric Bandholz, Founder, Beardbrand shares his take on creating buzz, why blogs are doomed, and the importance of customer feedback.

Do you prefer brand awareness or performance? What is your preferred marketing channel? In this series, we get to know past Insider Summit attendees and ask about their preferences.

Eric Bandholz, Founder, Beardbrand:

  • Word of Mouth or Paid Social: Create something so amazing that people can’t not talk about it. Easier said than done.

  • Sea Salt Spray or Beard Oil: Sea Salt Spray for the summer, Beard Oil for the winter. Both for all other days.

  • TikTok or X: X for the vibes.

  • Customer Feedback or Trust Your Gut: Your gut is only true when you’re talking with customers.

  • Follow Social Media Trends or Use Evergreen Content: Awareness of what’s hot, but done your way.

  • Engaging Social Post or Engaging Blog Post: Blogs are the first real victim of LLM’s. Social still has hope.

  • Personalized Email or Automated SMS: Email is still GOAT, but SMS enhances the experience.
