The '80s are totally back at a mall food
court sweet favorite celebrating its 40th birthday.
Cinnabon turns the big 4-0 on Aug. 22. To commemorate the milestone birthday, the chain is rolling out some sweet 80s-themed
swag, along with rolling back the price of the cinnamon roll that started it all.
The Bon Backpack is described as a “novel yet nostalgic accessory,” in 1980’s neon with a
custom insulated pocket “designed to keep Bons warm and ready to enjoy on the go.” Available just in time for back to school, the backpack’s bright fuchsia and teal background
is covered with Cinnabon illustrations, with printed frosting that seems to drip from a front pocket. The limited edition “throw-back pack” is available for $40 at

On the chain’s actual birthday on Aug. 22, members of Cinnabon’s rewards program can get a Classic Roll for the same price as when the chain launched in
1985: $1.25.
"Born in the '80s with an audacious dream to capture hearts with our decadent rolls, we are excited to extend this creative spirit to our fans with an unforgettable birthday
experience,” says Urvi Patel, chief brand officer at Cinnabon.
The brand is promoting both the backpack and $1.25 offer via its social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube
and TikTok.
Founded in Seattle, Cinnabon is located in 48 states and across 65 countries and territories. Beginning in shopping malls, the brand has extended over the years to other
high-traffic areas such as airports, train stations and travel plazas.
