Reddit Trying Out Tools To Help Publishers Share, Track Content

Reddit is beta-testing a suite of three tools that it says will help publishers share content with Reddit’s daily active uniques, which now number 110+ million.

The company has created a beta test waitlist for the new tools in Reddit Pro. It has been alpha-testing the solutions with dozens of news providers, including The Atlantic, The Hill, NBC News, and The Associated Press, and hopes to serve users worldwide by next year.

Beta testers can access the tools via a "Link"s tab in Reddit Pro.

According to Reddit, the new offerings will help publishers:

  • Gain article insights — They can track which stories are being shared on Reddit and monitor metrics like views, upvotes, and clicks.
  • Auto import articles — They can sync their RSS feeds and automatically import their articles to Reddit Pro.
  • Receive community recommendations — This includes AI-powered community suggestions on where to post their articles.

One alpha tester, The Hill, describes the experience this way:

"The Hill has always followed a trial-and-error strategy with social media platforms,” says Sarakshi Rai, deputy managing editor at The Hill. “Reddit has been a valuable, vibrant community for The Hill, and Reddit Pro gave us the tools to engage with our readers who previously weren't hearing from us directly on the platform.”

Reddit began as a web page with 25 links 20 years ago. It says it now serves readers where 75% read online press at least 2-3 times a week.
