Lee Enterprises is continuing its pullback from
print.
Three of its Midwest publications are killing their Monday print editions effective November 3: St. Louis-Post Dispatch, Omaha
World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.
Buffalo News, Quad City Times and Richmond Times-Dispatch are also cutting their Monday print
issues.
“The change to our Monday publication will help us focus our resources and time on the products readers are using the most,” writes Alan Achkar, executive editor of
the Post Dispatch, in a comment on the change, according to St. Louis Public Radio. “And our commitment to local news has not changed.”
Achkar added that
a later deadline will result in more news being delivered online.

“Lee achieved meaningful reductions in print-related expenses and corporate overhead, while reinvesting in high-growth
digital areas” during the quarter, said Kevin Mowbray, CEO of Lee Enterprises, when reporting the firm’s Q3 financials last month.
Print advertising revenue
totaled $17.4 million in Q3, down from $18.9 million in the same period last year. And it has fallen from $62 million to $53.8 million for the year-to-date.
The company suffered a
cyberattack in February, and recovery has cost it over $2 million.
