News Product Is Launched In Tulsa, Oklahoma

A new source of hyper-local news was launched in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday—the Tulsa Flyer.

The new nonprofit has taken over The Oklahoma Eagle, a Black-owned newspaper,  and will continue publishing it. And it has hired 20 journalists.

“Readers can expect to see a wide range of original reporting from a newsroom of diverse journalists about the topics that matter to Tulsans — cost of living, education, healthcare, business, local government, arts, culture and more,” says Ziva Branstetter, CEO of the Tulsa Flyer, in an email, according to the Tulsa Flyer. “Tulsa Flyer stories are free to read online through our newsletters and social media.”

Branstetter adds, “Thanks to our partnership with other local media outlets, we will also support bilingual and multicultural reporting, helping residents access clear, unbiased information.”
