Hall Of Blame: White House Calls Out Media Reports It Doesn't Like

The trend of allowing readers to weigh in on coverage through “fairness” or ‘bias” meters is getting an assist — from the White House.

The Trump administration on Friday launched a page devoted to tracking its own coverage. It is headlined: “Misleading. Biased. Exposed.”

To start, it named The Boston Globe, CBS News and The Independent as “media offenders of the week.” Their offense, as the White House put it: “The media represented President Trump’s call for Members of Congress to be held accountable for inciting sedition by saying that he called for their 'execution'."

(Wait, didn’t he say this was a death penalty offense?)

Several journalists were also called out. And, joining the Offender Hall of Shame are The Washington Post, CBS News, CNN and MSNBC.

The site discusses such alleged journalistic pathologies as:

  • Misrepresentation, omission of context
  • Bias, malpractice
  • Mischaracterization, omission of context
  • Left-wing lunacy
  • Lie
Readers who enjoy this can sign up for a weekly “Offenders Alert” email digest. And if they choose to tell Newsweek, say, that it is unfair via its bias meter, the White House site may reinforce that feeling.

Gee, too bad about the First Amendment to the Constitution, that "freedom of the press" thing and a functioning democracy.

For anyone needing a refresher: This protection is essential for a functioning democracy, as it allows the media to inform the public without government censorship and criticism of officials. The First Amendment also protects the right to freedom of speech and prevents government restrictions on what can be published or said, with some exceptions like obscenity, defamation, and incitement to violence.

But hey, when MSM seems to be fully owned by complicit ownership, no biggie, right?
