Whataburger has given its
kids’ meal a glow-up, its first in the last 20 years.
Beginning May 5, the 1,100-unit chain will release its revamped Kids Whatameal, which includes new packaging and collectible
toys.
Previously served in brown paper bags, the new Kids Whatameals are now available in a colorful, interactive orange-and-white box, which is also imprinted with games, mazes and
“surprises designed to spark imagination, keep little hands busy and turn a quick bite into a moment kids will remember.”
A “surprise gift or toy” will now also be
included in the Kids Whatameal, which will change throughout the year. The first “drop” will feature exclusive Whataburger sticker packs, with five different collectible designs.
“At Whataburger, some of the best memories are made around the table,” said Whataburger CMO Scott Hudler, in a release, “This new Kids Whatameal brings a little more fun to those
moments, giving families another reason to slow down, enjoy the time together and leave with a smile.”

The meals themselves will remain the same, giving kids the option of a Justaburger,
Whatachick’n Strips, Whatachick'n Bites or Grilled Cheese, with a small french fry or applesauce, a kid’s drink and a “sweet treat.” Prices range from $3.89 to $6.49 per
meal.
The chain is promoting the revamped Kids Whatameals via its Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and other platforms.
Whataburger has plans to add 15 new locations across seven states by
the end of June, according to a recent USA Today article. The new locations will be in Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina , North Carolina and Arizona. Late last year the privately held chain,
which is owned by BDT Capital Partners, increased sales by 9.4 percent, surpassing $4 billion in revenue for the first time in the company’s 77-year history, according to the Franchise
Times.
