National Taco Day is Oct. 6, and this
year Taco Bell and Duolingo have teamed up to take the tasty holiday global.
The QSR and language learning app’s “National Global Taco Day” will launch the limited-edition
rollout of their Duo Habanero Sauce.
Described as “bright and tangy with fruity notes and a kick of habanero heat,” the sauce’s packaging features Duolingo’s bright
green “Duo” owl mascot along with taco-inspired sayings in nine different languages: English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese. Globally the sauce
packets will “will reflect the native language and some of the most popular languages Duolingo users are learning in each participating market.”
“National Taco Day is about
more than just food. It's about the shared love of tacos and the connections they create between people. This year, we're taking that love global,” said Luis Restrepo, CMO, Taco Bell North
America, in a release. “The fact that ‘taco’ is understood in more than 30 languages proves just how universal it is and, together with Duolingo, we're turning that shared language
into an invitation for even more fans to join the Global Taco Day celebration.”
