Adware provider WhenU hired Perseus Group, a San Francisco-based investment bank to help it secure strategic partners and investors, according to a June 4 report on CNET's News.com. WhenU bundles
desktop advertising software with free file-sharing programs. Consumers who download the software agree to receive targeted ads. The software also monitors consumers' online activity. WhenU faces
several lawsuits by online businesses alleging that the company sold and distributed pop-up ads that appear on their sites and promote competitors' products. Other lawsuits have also charged that
WhenU violates copyright and trademark practices. Google and Yahoo! recently announced that they would not include WhenU links among their search results.
