New York magazine, which was purchased by Bruce Wasserstein back in December, is showing strong advertising growth in 2004. Ad pages have risen 10 percent from the beginning of the year through the
April 12 issue as compared to the same period in 2003, according to Media Industry Newsletter's (MIN's) Weekly Boxscores. New York has run 704.8 ad pages to date in 2004, while running 641.3 pages
in the same period in 2003. This increase is impressive, considering that the weekly put out its ad-heavy 35th Anniversary double issue in March 2003. In comparison, the New York Times Magazine,
the New Yorker and Time Out New York posted an average loss of 3.9% in ad pages in the year to date, according to MIN.
New advertisers in New York Magazine in 2004 include Donna Karan, Tommy
Hilfiger, Bloomingdales Soho, Citibank, Continental Airlines and Versace.
