Omnicom Dubbed 'Boring' Defensive Play In Choppy Media Waters

Dubbing it a "boring" defensive play in what is a "choppy" media marketplace, Merrill Lynch raised estimates for Omnicom Group. Given the recent stock market tumble, Merrill Lynch analyst Lauren Rich Fine said Omnicom "presents a good buying opportunity." She reaffirmed a "buy" rating for the agency holding company's stock, citing a number of stable factors: Omnicom "best of class within the ad/marketing services arena, in our view, a function of owning the best brands, having a great mix of professional services, and geographic diversity. The company has, and continues to, deliver double-digit [earnings per share] growth stemming from solid client relationships, new business wins, and increased client activity with moves to the Internet."
