AOL founder Steve Case continues to lament the 2001 merger he orchestrated with media giant Time Warner. In an interview with Charlie Rose, broadcast Friday, he told Rose: "Yes, I'm sorry I did it."
Case, who was forced out as chairman of the company in 2003, last December
wrote in an essay in
The Washington Post that the companies should de-merge. "Instead of propelling AOL to new heights, the association with Time Warner has weighed AOL down, while its competitors, such as Google
and Yahoo, have made important strides forward," he wrote.
