Troy Young has left online ad agency Organic, where he served as executive vice president and chief experience architect, to join the video sharing start-up VideoEgg.
Young will
take on the role of chief marketing officer at VideoEgg, which powers consumer-generated video on blogs and social networking sites. The company currently has deals to enable video on user pages at
social networking site Bebo and blogging site SixApart, among other companies.
Young said he moved to VideoEgg to participate in the burgeoning consumer-generated media space. "The media
business is at an inflection point where platforms that enable consumers become a really important part of the media equation," Young said.
Currently, VideoEgg delivers more than 10 million video
streams a day, Young said. The service is designed to be ad-supported, although marketers have only recently started to insert ads into the videos.
Organic intends to fill Young's position with
several people, including James Kim, tapped for vice president of
strategy last year, and Chad Stoller, named executive director of emerging platforms last
month. Organic also brought in Rick Corteville to serve as executive director, media, last
month.
