Yahoo on Wednesday released a new version of its music software application, the Yahoo Music Engine, that adapts features of its Musicmatch Jukebox. Renamed the Yahoo Music Jukebox, the upgraded music
player features a new 5-band equalizer and a more user-friendly look and feel. For a flat fee of $19.99, users can gain access to higher quality audio, faster ripping and burning of CDs, and custom CD
label printing, among other enhancements. The new version marks the start of Yahoo's efforts to merge the Musicmatch service entirely into the Yahoo Music Jukebox. Yahoo
acquired Musicmatch
in 2004 for $160 million.
