E-commerce spending rose to an estimated $80.8 billion in the first half of this year--up about 20 percent from the first six months of 2005, according to new data by comScore Networks. comScore now
forecasts that e-commerce spending for the year will reach $170 billion. comScore also reported that non-travel purchases grew faster than online travel spending in the first half of this year.
Non-travel online retail totaled $46.1 billion, marking a 24.6 percent increase from the first half of last year; travel spending online came to $34.7 billion, 14.7 percent more than last year.
