Wenner Media is again sole owner of
Us Weekly, announcing that it has acquired the Walt Disney Co.'s 50 percent stake in the celebrity title. Wenner paid an estimated $300 million for the
remaining share. In February 2001, Disney paid Wenner $40 million to become a 50/50 partner. For the first six months of this year, the magazine's total circ grew 7 percent, compared to a year
earlier--and newsstand sales hit 1 million for the first time, according to
Us Weekly.
