Intel Multiplies Marketing Effort For Core 2 Duo

Intel's new "Multiply" campaign is part of a broader brand-building initiative for the Intel Core 2 Duo processor that will be backed by "hundreds of millions" in spending, a company spokesperson said yesterday.

The campaign, which breaks Sept. 25, includes prime-time and cable TV, print, online, outdoor and other ad placement and marketing efforts, Intel announced on Monday. Created by McCann Worldgroup in New York, the initial campaign will run through the 2006 winter holiday season.

The campaign is the biggest since the launch of Intel's Centrino mobile technology in 2003. It will roll out in different countries in October. The new Intel processor increases speed and allows for greater ability to multitask on computers and mobile devices.

As part of the campaign, Intel will feature the music of up-and-coming bands from the UK, Sweden and Spain. Streaming media, artist interviews, links to band Web sites, and other bonus materials will be available on Intel's Web site.
