Online Gambling Accounts For 2.9% Of Entertainment Ads

The Congressional ban on Web gambling potentially affects around 2.9 percent of online display ads in the entertainment category, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. Entertainment ads themselves accounted for around 2 percent of the 233.5 billion online display ads served in August, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. This weekend, Congress passed legislation banning banks and credit card companies from processing money for Web gambling. One company, PartyGaming, said Monday that it would suspend all U.S. online gambling as soon as President George W. Bush signs the bill.
