Google To Mag Publishers: Boost Web Presence

Senior executives from Google and Yahoo said Monday at the American Magazine Conference that their companies had no intention of competing with magazines. Daniel Rosensweig, chief operating officer of Yahoo, said his company would rather partner with "amazing content providers" than create content itself. Google's Tim Armstrong, vice president of advertising sales, also said that Google isn't in the content creation business. He added that magazines still need to make better use of the Web, noting that many publishers didn't know that much of their content isn't accessible by Google's spiders. -- Erik Sass
