Interactive agency Avenue A/Razorfish has promoted Bruce Woolsey to vice president of advanced marketing solutions--a newly created position overseeing marketing efforts in emerging media, including
podcasts, online video and mobile. Previously, Woolsey was in charge of the shop's Seattle office.
Clark Kokich, worldwide president of aQuantive's Avenue A/Razorfish, said the
appointment marks the agency's commitment to focus on new forms of online advertising, particularly in social media and video. Kokich added that the company's clients increasingly want to experiment
with online video, ads in social networking sites, and mobile.
Recently, the agency created a series of Web video spots for Levis Jeans. The online campaign, which broke Nov. 1, ran on MSN and
RollingStone.com, as well as social networking site MySpace.com.
Kokich added that Woolsey will be charged with sorting through the glut of advertising technology vendors. "There are a lot of
companies that think they're going to get rich in the Web video area," he said. Deciding which company can "actually add value," he added, is difficult.
