He may be the best-known documentary filmmaker in America. Ken Burns, who put long-form docs on the map with "The Civil War" and "Baseball," has extended his agreement with PBS through 2022. Burns'
next film, "The War," a seven-part series about WWII, will air in September. The filmmaker will produce three major series for PBS as well as several shorter films, like the ones that have appeared in
his biography series. Past efforts covered boxer Jack Johnson and Mark Twain. Burns is currently working on films related to the history of the national parks and Prohibition.
