New Fox Reality Show Lets Women Pull Punches While Men Look To Please

As advertisers have known for some time, women viewers 18-54 rule network prime time. Now Fox means to take the reign a little more literally in a new reality show.

With a working title of "When Women Rule the World," 12 chauvinistic men will be subject to the whims, and perhaps flippant rules, of 12 attractive and overbearing women, all who have a chip on their shoulder, believing that in a man's world they have hit a glass ceiling.

Sounds like another pleasant evening in the Fox TV home.

The men will have to obey every command of the women. And every week one sniveling manservant gets eliminated. Last manservant standing wins $250,000.

Call it Reality TV: Dominatrix Edition.

This is a Fox match made in TV heaven.  Men eating dirt each week trying to please some very wronged women with lots of nasty baggage.  It's "Desperate Housewives: The Last Straw."

Senior Fox executives see it with far less titillation--as a sociology experiment. Fox Entertainment president Peter Liguori told Daily Variety that "When Women Rule" will be made "in a very Fox-like fashion. This is a social experiment and not a sexual experiment. "

No sexual tensions? On Fox?

This isn't going to be fun at all. Doesn't Fox realize this is network TV?

Still, given the network's propensity towards reality shows that have always teetered on the edge of the indecency abyss, we can only guess it'll turn out differently.

We expect great off-camera new stories, perhaps a lawsuit or two from the groveling rejected men and/or the domineering woman who say they were given a raw deal when they got only one whip and one black latex outfit to work with.

If that is not enough, once all the men have been voted off the island, the women are expected to turn on each other. Expect some pulling of locks, curls and manes in spicing up sweeps month.

What advertisers will buy into all of this?  Cat and dog food manufacturers, chain-link fence contractors, and a few hair replacement systems--for men and women.
